Somewhere along the way, many of us began believing that a full calendar meant a full life.

We rush from one commitment to the next, measuring our days by what we've accomplished instead of how we've experienced them. The result? We often feel exhausted, disconnected, and like life is passing by faster than we'd like.

But what if there was another way?

You’re invited to step away from the hurry of everyday life and revel in The Beauty of Slow: A Nonna-Inspired Retreat at Verdant Center. Inspired by the timeless rhythms of Italian grandmothers, we’ll practice the art of slow, intentional living.

Whether you're longing for rest, inspiration, or meaningful connection, this is your time to slow your pace, reconnect with yourself, and enjoy the company of women seeking the same.

Throughout the day, you'll experience the warmth, hospitality, and creativity that define the nonna tradition—finding joy in simple pleasures and discovering that ordinary moments become extraordinary when we approach them with care and presence.

What You’ll Do:

  • Enjoy un caffè (coffee) or tea while connecting with other women who are also choosing to step away from the busyness of everyday life

  • Make Focaccia bread from scratch. As we mix, knead, wait, and bake, we'll be reminded that some of life's greatest gifts simply can't be rushed

  • Fare una passeggiata: Inspired by the Italian tradition of taking an unhurried walk, we'll stroll the grounds together, leaving behind the need to rush or reach a destination. Instead, we'll enjoy meaningful conversation, fresh air, and the simple pleasure of walking side by side

  • Gather around the table for a leisurely, seasonal meal inspired by the spirit of the Slow Food movement

  • Pause for journaling and reflection as you consider what it would look like to bring more beauty, presence, and gentleness into your daily life

  • Channeling the more witchy nonnas, we’ll make a talisman key chain with  pressed flowers or leaves that serves as a gentle reminder to embrace a slower, more intentional pace in everyday life

  • Dolce far niente: we’ll practice the sweetness of doing nothing

What You’ll Leave with:

  • A calmer mind and a gentler pace.

  • A renewed appreciation for the beauty found in everyday moments.

  • Practical rituals that help you slow down long after the retreat ends.

  • Fresh inspiration to create a home and life that feels more peaceful, intentional, and nourishing.

  • Greater presence with yourself and the people you love.

  • Meaningful connections with women who value community over busyness.

  • Homemade bread, a handcrafted keepsake, and thoughtful journal reflections to continue your journey.

  • The reminder that slowing down isn't falling behind—it's making room for what matters most.

Sign up today and start getting ready for your day in the life of a nonna! Whether you come with a friend or arrive on your own, you'll be welcomed at Verdant Center
