“Let’s Get Cozy: A Reading Retreat” on 2.13.26

Join us for a retreat to read, rest, and get cozy. We’ve got a quiet nook with your name on it.

What’s In Store:

  • Reading in a cozy setting

  • Journal time (optional)

  • Quiet time

  • Yoga (optional)

  • Craft time (optional)

  • Fellowship with fellow readers

What to Bring:

  • Water bottle

  • Journal and pen

  • What you want to read!

  • Personal yoga mat and blanket if you prefer to use your own

  • Comfy clothes

What You’ll Leave with:

  • A fuller cup now that you have had some time to read and rest

  • A hand-crafted bookmark (optional) to remind you to take time to enjoy one of your favorite pastimes 

Choose Your Experience:

  • Group retreat for $155 (meals included)

    • What is a group retreat? A shared retreat experience with others who also signed up to attend the group retreat that features the above activities which are led by a facilitator.

  • Self-guided retreat for $78 (meals not included; add “Meals Add-On for Self-Guided Retreats” below if you’d like to have meals included)

    • What is a self-guided retreat? A solo retreat experience that you will do at your own pace and in your own space at Verdant Center. You will have access to much of the same content as the group experience but will guide yourself through it and will not be interacting with the group.

Retreat Facilitator

Megan is a veteran educator and nonprofit leader who specializes in systems change. She has collaborated with partners ranging from local committees to international exchanges. She is driven to support children and families to ensure everyone has access to the resources and opportunities to thrive.

She recently served as Director of Raising Readers Nashville, where she worked with over 120 individuals to build early literacy supports in Davidson County.  She strengthened partnerships with the local government, the public school district, and elected officials. 

Previously, Megan worked for almost a decade in city government, developing the first New Americans programming for Nashville Public Library. Under her leadership, Nashville became the third city in the nation to host citizenship corners in public spaces. She won national awards and was featured several times in national magazines for her innovative solutions to help public libraries better serve the needs of adult learners.

Earlier in her career, Megan taught all levels of learners from pre-school to university students. She helped first generation students complete their college degree; assisted international students in entering university; developed technology supports for people coming out of incarceration; and helped migrant workers register their children for kindergarten.

Megan is known for her integration of arts and social emotional practices into all the spaces she leads. She has facilitated women's leadership cohorts, New American committees, equity and inclusion teams, creativity coaching, nonprofit workshops, and job seeker support groups. She has led thousands of people to ways of better knowing themselves

Retreat Yoga Practitioner

Michal Smith is a certified yoga teacher, belly dance instructor, and tarot reader focused on the intersection of personal narrative and embodied wholeness. They bring a love of storytelling and over a decade of somatic movement practices to everything they do, helping their clients, their friends, and themself lead more joyful, attuned lives. They believe that movement is for everyone, that your stories are your superpower, and that you're definitely a better dancer than you think you are.
